Absolutely beautiful antique c. 19th Century Sterling Silver, Guilloche Enamel and Rose-cut Diamond German made decorative collectible Singing Bird Box. All around panels in gorgeous sky blue enamel over wave guilloche pattern. Decorative silver gilt borders, flower head motifs and rose-bud motifs. The pop-up lid depicts is set with a pale blue guilloche enamel plaque with applied decorative silver gilt motif withing a an oval bezel encrusted with rose-cut diamonds. The lid opens to reveal a pierced and engraved scroll decorated grill and to release the black feathered plumed bird with a silver beak, rotating on its axis, chirping and flapping its wings. The front of the box features an activation sliding mechanism also encrusted with rose-cut diamonds. The winding mechanism is located on the bottom of the box and comes with original winding key designed as a bird. The box stands on four feet spherical feet. The bottom of the box hallmarked: Sterling, 935, German hallmarks and maker’s mark. Bird box is accompanied by original hard storage case/box. A truly remarkable work of art and decorative collectible! The bird mechanism works well. The bird box is in excellent condition with a few minor patina stains on silver. Enamel is in superb condition without any damages. The outer storage case has visible signs of wear on the outside and lining tears on the inside (see photos). Video is available upon request!
