This is a magnificent vintage Swiss made deluxe Reuge music box, model #8255/ circa 1985, with all parts & cylinders in pristine condition. The locking cabinet (old fashioned key included) features an exquisite walnut veneer finish with a rosewood inlay. The cabinet features a drawer which holds 4 musical cylinders; the cylinder drawer has a release lever located inside the cabinet located to the left front side of the musical mechanism which when pulled up unlocks the cylinder drawer so it can be pulled out, and when the lever is pushed down it locks the cylinder drawer from being opened. The included 5 musical cylinders each play 3 tunes, for a total of 15 tunes from all 5 cylinders. The cabinet contains a Swiss made Reuge 72 note changing musical mechanism (CH 15/72) with interchangeable movements (musical cylinders). The musical mechanism features a tune indicator which lets you know which tune of the cylinder is being played, and 2 lever controls to affect play: one lever is a start/ stop lever (starts & stops playing), and the other is a change/ repeat lever (tune changes or repeats). The musical mechanism is a top winding movement with the winding lever located above the bell housing that the mainspring is housed in. The musical mechanism is housed under a hinged protective dust cover lid which is lifted when you wish to wind the musical mechanism or change musical cylinders. This music box was recently acquired from the estate of Linda Pinson (original owner), who with her husband Ray ran “Ray & Linda’s Clock Repair” in Tustin, California. The box was acquired from the estate by Don Caine, owner of Music Box Repair Center Unlimited, and former warehouse & operations manager of Sorrento Specialties and later Reuge USA.
