This elegant cigarette / lipstick carousel box is a beautifully decorative vanity or tabletop piece that blends Old World charm with mid-century glamour. Crafted primarily from milk glass, the body is adorned with hand-painted floral bouquets in soft tones, yellows, reds, blues, and greens-giving it a delicate, romantic presence from every angle. The central section features a rotating carousel design with multiple vertical compartments, ideal for holding cigarettes, lipsticks, or other small vanity essentials. Each panel is framed in ornate gilt-toned metal, richly detailed with classical scrollwork that adds depth and refinement. The carousel mechanism allows the interior compartments to turn smoothly. The domed milk glass lid continues the floral motif and is crowned with a small sculptural finial depicting a seated cherub, lending a whimsical yet refined accent. The base is substantial and richly embellished, combining gilt metal with additional floral glass detailing. Decorative feet anchor the piece, reinforcing its neoclassical influence and giving it a luxurious, pedestal-like stance. In addition to its storage function, this piece is also a working music box. When engaged, it plays “Speak Softly Love”, adding a nostalgic, romantic layer of charm. Considering its age, it is in great condition! There is wear to the metal parts (please inspect photos). The glass parts are in excellent condition, with no wear to the paint! The music box is functional; plays the music, opens and closes (see video). However, the mechanism may require adjustment or servicing to ensure consistent performance as it kind of picks and chooses when it wants to activate when playing around with it.
